Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) remains the most common cause of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is a key modifiable risk factor for ASCVD and the primary lipid target for most patients with hyperlipidemia. To address the varied, often complex consequences of hyperlipidemia, care provided by an interprofessional, multidisciplinary care team is necessary. This activity highlights key concepts in managing patients with hyperlipidemia, provides an overview of the principles of interprofessional collaboration, and describes recommended roles for each member of the interprofessional, multidisciplinary care team for hyperlipidemia.
