- Audio Teleconferences
The
Annenberg Center has managed the development and delivery of many
well-attended audio-teleconferences. Each teleconference site
pre-registers for a particular broadcast airdate and is sent the
toll-free dial-in number and supplemental print material in advance.
Participants convene at their location with a speakerphone, or can
participate individually via telephone. Audio-teleconferences typically
consist of a didactic presentation or roundtable discussion, followed
by a live question and answer teleconference session, where each site
can participate live with the program faculty. Augmented by printed
program syllabi, audio-teleconferences allow caregivers and their peers
to interact with nationally recognized experts to discuss timely and
relevant issues they can put to immediate use in their practice.
The Annenberg Center has been successful at audience
generation for these programs through a combination of promotional
mailings and grass-roots recruitment. We have exceeded projected
attendance even when a limited number of airdates have been scheduled.
- Video-Driven Audio Teleconferences (V-DAT)
This
educational format, an Annenberg original, combines the cost effective
reach of an audio-teleconference together with the presentation
excitement of videotape. V-DATs deliver the program information in a
compelling videotape based format, combined with an interactive
audio-teleconference question and answer session with selected program
faculty. Sites sign up for specific broadcast dates and convene at
their location with a VCR and speakerphone. At the scheduled time,
sites dial in and then collectively watch the pre-recorded video. At
the close of the video portion of the program, phone lines are opened
for live Q&A with each site getting their chance for a discussion
with selected program faculty.

mailings and grass-roots recruitment. We have consistently met
projected attendance.
- On-Demand Teleconferences
The
Annenberg Center also produces on-demand programs based on live
teleconferences, extending the reach of these live educational
programs. Each teleconference site or clinician registers for the
program and receives the toll-free dial-in number and supplemental
print material in advance. The participants can dial in at their
convenience and listen to a pre-recorded audio teleconference and an
edited "Best of Q&A" from the teleconferences.
